Aquatic Therapy is physical therapy conducted in the water. We use the properties of water, traditional physical therapy and specific aquatic techniques to provide a comprehensive approach to those seeking to increase strength, decrease pain and improve function. This environment offers clients additional versatility to their rehabilitation program. Aquatic Therapy provides special accommodations that land-based therapies fail to achieve for specific situations, such as decreased weight-bearing on arthritic joints.
Therapy is held in a 4-9 foot deep pool and is heated between 84-90 degrees. Benefits of Aquatic Therapy include a reduced weight bearing and stress on joints, muscular relaxation, increased circulation and reduced swelling.
Aquatic Therapy is beneficial for:
- Intolerance to traditional therapy
- Arthritic conditions
- Back or neck pain
- Repetative/strain injuries
- Post-surgical rehab
- Weight bearing limitations
- Myofascial pain
